  • A deep depression forming in the Bay of Bengal has halted the winter chill in Kolkata, raising temperatures from 18 to 19 degrees Celsius. As per the IMD, all districts of West Bengal will experience dry weather in the coming days until Tuesday. However, the office added that the depression is not expected to have any direct impact on southern West Bengal.

Kolkata will experience clear skies with occasional light morning fog. The maximum temperature will likely hover around 28 degrees Celsius, while the minimum temperature may settle around 19 degrees Celsius.

The Meteorological Department has indicated that there will be no significant drop in minimum temperatures across the state in the next five days. This means that the much-anticipated bone-chilling winter is still a few days away.

While winter has arrived in a mild form, the recent increase in night temperatures has raised questions about the intensity of the season. The Alipore office of the IMD attributes this rise to the influx of water vapour from the Bay of Bengal.
