Durga Puja 2025: 12-day holiday in Bengal govt offices

12 Kolkata: Bengal govt offices will remain closed for 12 days in 2025 for Durga Puja holidays. During Diwali, there will be holidays for another 11 days — considering an extended weekend prior to Kali Puja — starting from Oct 18 to Oct 29. The list was released on Friday by the state finance department.
The Puja holidays will start from Sep 26, which is Chaturthi, on a Friday, and will continue till Oct 7, a day after Lakshmi Puja, which is on Oct 6 (Monday). The state employees will miss out on a number of holidays next year, starting with Republic Day in Jan, which is on a Sunday, followed by Saraswati Puja, which is also on a Sunday (Feb 2.) So, the employees will be given an additional holiday a day after Saraswati Puja.
Even Ram Navami will fall on Sunday (April 6). Again, Muharram is also on a Sunday (July 6). Id-Ul-Zuha is on Saturday, on June 7.Rakhi Bandhan is on Saturday (Aug 9.)
Dashami will coincide with Gandhi Jayanti on Oct 2. Holi holiday, which will be on a Friday (March 14) can offer a long weekend.
