  • Kolkata: Two persons were arrested by the Kolkata Police on Saturday for allegedly being involved in the tab money misappropriation case. Both are residents of Chopra in North Dinajpur and have been identified as Momirul Islam (32) and Mansur Alam (28).

Most of those targeted are from the lower sections of society," said an officer.

    This has taken the total number of arrests by Kolkata Police SIT in this case to seven, and the total arrests to 34. Meanwhile, the Bengal Police has spread their own dragnet beyond the teachers and identified students who played important roles in this criminal network. In this regard, a college student from Uttar Dinajpur was arrested.

    Additionally, investigators found 12 bank accounts in Kishanganj, Bihar, where money was parked thus ascertaining claims of Bengal govt that money reached Bihar. On Thursday, the East Burdwan police arrested a fraudster Rabindra Prasad Singh, who stays in Kishanganj. He owns a photocopy shop and worked as a ‘middleman'.
