Banglar Bari funds to require ‘digital undertakings’

12 Jalpaiguri: In an effort to bring complete transparency to the Banglar Bari project, state govt is set to take undertakings from beneficiaries on a digital platform.
The process will kick off as a pilot project in Jalpaiguri by the end of Nov. Beneficiaries will be allowed to read their declarations in Bengali, English, Hindi or Nepali. For those who cannot read or write, representatives from the local administration will read it out for them. They will also be required to give declarations on whether they bribed anybody to get a house under the scheme. Banglar Bari project beneficiaries must also verify their banking details.
Beneficiaries who disagree with the statement will be able to lodge a complaint on a toll-free number. If they agree, they must provide their Aadhaar number, after which they will get an OTP on their phones. Sharing this with the administration will be ‘digital approval'. Money will be credited to bank accounts after OTPs are submitted.
