12 Kolkata: Calcutta University has received all the option forms from the MA Bengali students whose answer scripts got lost during evaluation. Mark sheets will be distributed to the students by the end of this week.
CU gave option forms to 120 MA Bengali students whose first-semester answer scripts went missing before they were submitted to the controller section. The university declared results for 850 students who wrote the exam in April, with incomplete results for those whose answer scripts were lost.
CU interim VC Santa Datta said: "We had given seven days to the colleges of the affected students to make a decision and return the option forms. We have received all the option forms where students selected one from the options given by the university. The controller section is now working on it to hand over their mark sheets by the end of this week."
Of the 120 lost answer scripts, three options were given to the 65 students whose answer scripts were checked before they were lost and two options were given to those whose answer scripts were burnt. However, almost all the students opted for the highest marks from the rest of the four papers as the score for the lost paper.
One CU official said: "None of them opted for the retest option. So the process of disbursing mark sheets will be completed shortly."
