  • 123 Kolkata: The 30-year-old man from Haryana's Rohtak, Bholu Karmvir Ishwar Jat, had allegedly killed Bally tabla player, Soumitra Chatterjee, on Katihar Express on Nov 19 to extract his "revenge" for "being shouted at" inside the train.

Jat, also a rape-murder accused, had allegedly revealed this to the investigators during an intense round of questioning that followed his arrest from Vapi railway station in Gujaratlast Sunday. The reason for murdering the 60-year-old physically challenged tabla player was not merely loot, cops claimed. Chatterjee had complained about Jat's smoking of a ‘beedi' in the coach. This led to an argument. When other passengers in the special coach for the physically-handicapped got off , Jat allegedly murdered Chatterjee, looted his money and mobile phone, and hopped off the train. He made his way to Tatanagar, where he boarded the Ernakulam Express. Once the remand for Gujarat Police ends, the Howrah GRP plans to seek Jat's custody and bring him to Kolkata.

Howrah GRP police are still seeking answers as to why the body was wrapped in a blue sheet.
