  • The Ministry of Women and Child Development in collaboration with the Border Security Force organised a special programme on Wednesday to stop child marriages across the Indo-Bangladesh border region of North and South 24 Parganas districts in the state.

The ‘Bal-Vivah Mukht Bharat Abhiyan’ campaign in the South 24 Parganas district received support from local communities in vulnerable coastal areas, uniting to eradicate child marriage and protect children’s rights.

The ‘Bal-Vivah Mukht Bharat Abhiyan’ will focus on seven high-burden states — West Bengal, Bihar, Jharkhand, Rajasthan, Tripura, Assam, and Andhra Pradesh — and nearly 300 high-burden districts where child marriage rates are high.
