School jobs scam: Leaps & Bounds in ED addl chargesheet

Kolkata: Enforcement Directorate has filed a supplementary chargesheet in connection with the school jobs-for-cash scam, naming consultancy firm Leaps & Bounds Pvt Ltd in it. ED has also named a few prominent businessmen and their firms in the latest chargesheet.
The name of Leaps & Bounds surfaced when ED officials started looking into the accounts of SD Consultancy. The central agency came across three transactions of Rs 48.6 lakh, Rs 45.3 lakh and Rs 1 lakh, made between Feb 2020 and Jan 2021.
SD Consultancy, which was close to Sujay Krishna Bhadra alias ‘Kalighater Kaku', paid a total of Rs 95 lakh to Leaps & Bounds. The firm was supposed to provide consultancy services to the company close to Bhadra.
ED has also alleged that Bhadra was supplying construction equipment and material to one of the big realtors in the city. He allegedly influenced the realtor to pay crores to SD Consultancy. The company, ED alleged, booked a profit of Rs 95 lakh without doing any real business.
ED officials have reasons to believe that the amount was then transferred to Leaps & Bounds. The agency had earlier mentioned that Bhadra was linked to other accused persons in the teacher recruitment scam like Manik Bhattacharya, Tapas Mandal and Kuntal Ghosh.
