  • 1234 Kolkata: Calcutta University and Rabindra Bharati University will hold meetings with highest decision-making bodies—the syndicate and the EC respectively— "without permission" on Wednesday.

RBU former registrar Subir Maitra, who is under suspension following an HC order, sent a legal notice to all EC members for holding an "illegal meeting" without higher education department permission. RBU interim VC Subhro Kamal Mukherjee said, "We have written to the higher education department on why the meeting will be held. It will take place as per schedule." In a legal notice, Maitra stated the EC, including the interim VC, was "becoming a party to an illegal decision," and a copy was sent to education minister Bratya Basu, higher education principal secretary Binod Kumar and other state officials.
