  • A powerful explosion ripped through a house in Khyertala village in West Bengal’s Murshidabad district Sunday night, claiming three lives. The blast, which occurred around 10 pm, significantly damaged the house, causing the roof to collapse and the debris to scatter across the area.

The victims, identified as Mamun Molla, Sagirul Sarkar, and Mustakin Sheikh, were rushed to a local hospital but were declared dead upon arrival. All three were residents of the village.

A bomb squad thoroughly scoured the area for other possible explosives, officials said. While initial investigations suggest that the blast may have been accidental and could have stemmed from the mishandling of explosives, the victims’ families claim a bomb was hurled at the house.

Police are currently investigating the possibility of a larger bomb-making operation.
