123 Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Tuesday questioned CBI's urgency in arresting Sujay Krishna Bhadra in the teacher recruitment scam. The matter will be heard again next Monday.
"We will not put you in the position of an astrologer. But what we noticed was the urgency of the arrest triggered after the hearing had concluded. Interesting coincidence. You (CBI) interrogated him first, not ED. You raid his place, then he gets arrested by ED," Justice Joymalya Bagchi said.
"For 1.5 years he remains in custody, you do not find the necessity of causing his production or arresting him. Just after the conclusion of the hearing in the ECIR, you make a prayer for his production in the proceedings against him in this case. In the production, you say that sufficient material has been collected," Justice Bagchi added. Justice Bagchi verbally asked CBI to not apply the production warrant of Sujay Krishna Bhadra in the lower court.
