A division bench of justices Tapabrata Chakraborty and Partha Sarathi Chatterjee were told by the Centre that the HC single-bench orders which had asked them to withhold the entire pan-India selection list till the petitioners were allowed a retest will derail the pan-India appointments, prejudicing those who have made it across India.
At the HC's query, the Centre also said if the petitioners succeed in their retests, they can be accommodated in final merit list. Around 38 petitioners had moved HC claiming they fell short of height bar by half centimetre, urging to be reevaluated again.
