  • 12 Kolkata: A day after the National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested a Jaish-e-Mohammad (JeM) operative from Assam, the agency on Friday detained a suspected operative of the group during an early morning raid in the Sanapara area of Arambagh, Hooghly.

    The suspect, identified as Sabiruddin, was picked up from his residence. NIA officials seized cash, a mobile phone and a laptop from his possession.

    Sabiruddin's family alleged that he was falsely implicated, adding that he had bagged a BEd degree recently and was looking for a job. The detention comes amid heightened vigil against terror activities in the region following the Bangladesh crisis.
