Kolkata: The body of a 27-year-old woman was found lying face down on a bed, a scarf around her neck, at her Kestopur flat on Friday night.
Avishikta Saha's body was found by her husband around 10 pm in their third-floor apartment at Rabindrapally. Cops suspect she was murdered. "We have started an investigation," said a senior Bidhannagar City Police officer.
Avishikta, who worked at a beauty salon, left for work with her husband on Friday morning. Repeated calls to her went unanswered throughout the day, said police, adding that the husband reportedly returned home to find both the apartment door and the outer iron grille locked from outside. "On opening the doors with his keys and entering the apartment, he discovered his wife's body," said an officer. "He alerted the neighbours and called police."
The couple has a young son, who usually stayed with Avishikta's parents.
Cops said the couple had been living in the apartment for around a year. Police have collected CCTV footage from the building and questioned several residents.
The body had been sent for postmortem to determine the cause of the death, said police, adding a special team had been formed for investigation.
