Kolkata: Former Trinamool Congress Rajya Sabha MP Santanu Sen got elected as the state secretary of IMA Bengal on Wednesday. Sen earlier had said he would not contest this time but finally he changed his plans and nominated himself for the post. He secured 430 votes agaisnt 116 secured by his nearest rival Sukanta Chakraborty.
Bibartan Saha, Dwaipayan Mojumdar and Ranjan Bhattacharya got elected as joint secretaries while ENT surgeon Abhik Ghosh was elected as the finance secretary. The others who got elected after the counting on Wednesday include Anirban Dalui — as the assistant secretary.
Sources said while most of the elected owe allegiance to the Trinamool Congress, there was also a divide between those who are identified as belonging the North Bengal lobby when the nomination process began, which was during peak of the RG Kar protest.
