  • Kolkata: Sanjay Roy, the prime accused in the RG Kar Medical College doctor's rape-murder case, will be questioned by the judge on Friday after the district court at Sealdah completed hearing the deposition of 50 witnesses in connection with the case.

Seema Pahuja, the investigating officer of CBI in the case, was cross-examined by Roy's lawyer, Sourav Bandyopadhyay, for two hours on Wednesday. Pahuja is the last of 50 witnesses who appeared in court in connection with the first charge sheet filed by the CBI in the case.

The CBI charge sheet named Sanjay Roy as the prime suspect who committed the rape and murder of the 31-year-old PGT on the intervening night of Aug 8 and 9. It also named former RG Kar Medical College principal Sandip Ghosh and former Tala PS OC Abhijit Mandal as accused persons who harboured Roy. It alleged that the duo was involved in the larger conspiracy of destruction of evidence.

Present in the court, Pahuja, during her two-and-a-half-hour-long deposition, had informed about the case, witnesses gathered, the process of reconstruction of the incident, several forensic reports pointing at the accused person, and CCTV footage that the agency analysed.
