12 Kolkata: The Calcutta High Court on Thursday refused to grant permission for a sit-in demonstration demanding DA at Nabanna bus terminus area. Justice Tirthankar Ghosh suggested the protesters an alternative place at Mandirtala bus stand but they insisted on the former place. But Nabanna bus terminus being a sensitive area, protest was not allowed there.
"This will be creating discrimination amongst the litigants. If I give permission to one of the litigants, then I have to give it to others as well," Justice Ghosh said while highlighting that on previous occasions as well he had denied permission to hold protests in the area. Justice Ghosh had earlier denied permission to the Group D Aikya Mancha (Forum) to hold a demonstration at Nabanna bus stand.
