123 Kolkata: Speciality Restaurants recently introduced its 16th brand, Bizarre Asia, bringing all Asian buffets under one roof. The fine dining restaurant chain is also looking to expand its footprint through franchises in countries like Saudi Arabia and the UAE, according to its chairman and MD Anjan Chatterjee.
Some of Speciality Restaurants' brands include Mainland China, Oh! Calcutta, Café Mezzuna, Hoppipola, Sigree Global Grill, Riyasat, Dariole and Sweet Bengal.
"Asian cuisine always tempts the taste buds of Kolkatans, so we have launched the new brand called Bizarre Asia in the city. We invested around Rs 6 crore to start a restaurant-cum-bar on the third floor of Primarc Square at Salt Lake. Plans are afoot to start two more outlets under different brands in the same building. Our 16th brand began its journey from this Salt Lake address, and we plan to expand the brand to other parts of Kolkata and the state gradually in the future," Chatterjee told TOI.
Earlier, Chatterjee said that the company would invest Rs 100 crore for the expansion of its business in Bengal. When asked about the same, he said, "We are set to bring our business to Darjeeling, Siliguri and Durgapur. We are looking for real estate properties to expand our business."
Regarding expansion abroad, Chatterjee said, "We have been running a restaurant called Chourangi in London since 2021. We are going to open another restaurant in London under the Mainland China brand. We are also planning to be present in the USA soon. Besides, we are planning to open the third outlet in Dubai and also move to other Gulf countries."
