Siliguri: Darjeeling BJP MP Raju Bista on Friday claimed Centre was set to begin tripartite talks by Jan with Gorkha representatives from the Darjeeling Hills, Terai and Dooars region, along with Bengal govt, to find a solution to problems related to Gorkhas.
"I met Union home minister Amit Shah around 10 am. He called me to his hotel and we spoke for half an hour, highlighting various issues concerning Darjeeling. I am happy to share that the tripartite talks started by the MHA in 2021 will resume within the first week of Jan. It will be decided when the next tripartite talks will begin. I think the talks will begin by Jan," said Bista.
The last tripartite talks were held in Nov 2021. The GTA is the regional autonomous body formed as a result of the tripartite agreement between the state, Centre and Gorkha Janmukti Morcha in 2011.
