Bengal grants 4cr for 4.5k LED streetlights in Salt Lake, Rajarhat-Gopalpur

Kolkata: The state govt on Friday sanctioned Rs 4 crore to the Bidhannagar Municipal Corporation (BMC) for installing around 4,500 LED streetlights of different voltage across Salt Lake and Rajarhat-Gopalpur under the Green Cities Mission scheme.
BMC will install 405 LED lights with 90-watt capacity using Rs 1.7 crore and 4,060 LED lights of 45 and 60-watt capacity with Rs 2.1 crore. The remaining Rs 1.8 crore has been sanctioned for installing octagonal poles with 120-watt capacity LED streetlights on VIP Road between Dum Dum Park and Narayantala. The civic body had got a sanction of Rs 2.9 crore for installing LED streetlights.However, streetlights are not functioing properly on a few stretches in Salt Lake.Agency responsible for the maintenance of the lights has been asked to conduct regular checks.
