Mandarmani (East Midnapore): The discovery of a Trinamool worker's hanging body in a Mandarmani hotel created a stir on Saturday. The deceased, Abul Nasir (34), was a resident of Amdanga in North 24 Parganas.
While cops suspect that Nasir died by suicide over a fight with his alleged girlfriend, Nasir's family claims he was murdered. Mandarmani police have detained Nasir's alleged girlfriend for questioning. Nasir was married to the deputy head of TMC-run Adhata panchayat.
Preliminary investigation revealed that on Thursday, Nasir and a friend checked into the Mandarmani hotel, introducing two women as their wives. On Friday night, Nasir's alleged girlfriend went out with the other man, leaving him in the hotel. Hotel sources indicated that upon returning, an argument started between them and subsequently, Nasir killed himself.
TMC's Amdanga Panchayat Samiti president Anisur Rahman claimed there was no political motive behind the death.
East Midnapore ASP (Rural) Shubhendra Kumar stated, "A hanging body was found in the hotel. We have sent it for an autopsy. A woman accompanying the deceased has been detained for questioning. An unnatural death case has been filed."
