‘Apologise or resign’: TMC holds protests against Shah

123 Kolkata: Trinamool Congress on Monday staged demonstrations across Kolkata and Bengal districts, demanding Union home minister Amit Shah's resignation or public apology over his comments on B R Ambedkar in Rajya Sabha last week.
Sources said Shah was criticising Congress's purported disregard for social justice and its superficial acknowledgment of Ambedkar but overextended his argument while making the comment. CM Mamata Banerjee had described Shah's statement as evidence of BJP's "casteist and anti-Dalit mindset".
On Monday, various ministers and party functionaries participated in block- and ward-level demonstrations, which were held between 2pm and 3pm, and displayed flags and placards.
At a protest rally in Maniktala, Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said: "BJP's mask has fallen off with this episode. The way they are insulting the father of the Indian Constitution and the people who believe in his ideologies reflects the true nature of BJP netas. Amit Shah should either resign or issue a public apology. They are not interested in stopping violence. They want to use the turmoil for political benefits."
