• Choir, dance drama on city school’s Founder’s Day

  • 12 Kolkata: Lakshmipat Singhania Academy recently marked its 29th Founder's Day at the Kalamandir auditorium. Students Ahaana Bajoria and Aryaman Pachisia were the hosts of the event held on Dec 7. Sanjeev Sanyal, a member of the economic advisory council to the PM, was the chief guest. Other dignitaries present included Sharda Singhania and Mamta Singhania. Each dignitary was presented with a potted plant, symbolizing growth, sustainability and the enduring spirit of the institution.

    The school choir presented a medley that celebrated the contributions of women to society along with a visual of young artists creating a masterpiece. The Founder's Day officially commenced with all dignitaries paying a floral tribute to the late founder, Lala Lakshmipat Singhania, followed by the ceremonial lighting of the lamp. Director of the institution Meena Kak addressed the gathering, emphasising on the consistent altering nature of the education system and avenues to create job opportunities. She urged students to become innovators and entrepreneurs and advised them to address real-world challenges in a sustainable and creative manner.

    Principal Jaya Misra presented the annual school report while Bharat Hari Singhania, chairman, Lakshmipat Singhania Education Foundation, stressed empowering of students with 21st century skills, critical thinking, creativity and collaboration, along with instilling empathy and a sense of responsibility. Chief guest Sanyal said knowledge is essentially about skills and application, and AI would bring forth enormous opportunities.

    Both teachers and students were feted in the prize distribution ceremony. The cultural event featured a dance drama honouring the legacy of Oscar-winning directors Alfred Hitchcock, Satyajit Ray, Akira Kurosawa, and Steven Spielberg, portraying film-makers as storytellers and educators who created narratives to guide and inspire future generations. The event ended with the vote of thanks by the head boy and head girl.
