Howrah: The body of a newborn baby girl was found stuffed inside a bag in an abandoned house. The incident occured on Friday and was reported from the Jelepara area near National Highway 16 (Mumbai Road) under Uluberia police station. Cops have recovered the body and sent it for an autopsy.
According to locals, a few children were playing in the area on Friday afternoon when they spotted the bag in a deserted house next to Mumbai Road. As the news spread, locals reached the spot and opened the bag. Police was informed after they discovered the infant's body inside the bag.
Uluberia cops retrieved the body. Their initial suspicion is that someone might have left the body under the cover of darkness. Police suspect that the baby might have been born in a local nursing home. Cops have launched an investigation into the matter.
