A day after three-year-old female tiger Zeenat, who had strayed out of Odisha’s Similipal National Park earlier this month, was located, in the Bandwan area, the forest officials on Friday said that it has now moved to Manbazar area in Purulia in a relatively less forested area, which according to forest officials may help them tranquilise it.
The area has been cordoned off using nylon nets, the officials said, adding that the administration has imposed prohibitory orders under section 163 of BNS in Manbazar area of Purulia.
“Zeenat is presently located in Manbazar. We have surrounded the areas with nets. The area is not dense forest and we feel we have a chance to tranquilise the tigress,” said Purabi Mahato, DFO, Purulia said while speaking with The Indian Express over the phone.
According to sources, three cages have been put up in the Jhantipahar area of Manbazar where the tigress is, and a tranquiliser shooter has been placed in another cage.
