Kolkata: Locals in Jessore Road joined hands with cops to apprehend drunken youths causing chaos in an open-top SUV on Wednesday after the group of 22 youths left at least four people, including a traffic cops, injured. The youths were later arrested.
Around 9 pm, the group was travelling in the SUV while drinking alcohol and disturbing passersby. "Traffic cops at multiple points, including Birati More, Bankra More, and Madhyamgram Chowmatha, warned them several times. The youths ignored the warnings," an officer said.
Instead, the youths attacked the cops. Things escalated at Madhyamgram Chowmatha, where they got into an argument with traffic police and allegedly pushed officers. Though backup arrived, cops found it tough to manage the group till locals helped out.
