  • 123 Bagdah (North 24-Parganas): Border Security Force (BSF) and Border Guards Bangladesh (BGB) helped a woman from across the border fulfil her wish to bid the final farewell to her brother, who died in Bagdah on Friday. This comes amid the volatile political situation in Bangladesh with reports of atrocities on minorities.

On Friday afternoon, BSF brought Abdul Khalid Mondal's body to the zero point at the Mustafapur border where his sister and other relatives from Bangladesh paid tributes to him.

According to BSF, a panchayat member of Gangulia village informed the post commander of Battalion 67 about Mondal's death. "We were told that the deceased's sister, who resides in the Bangladeshi border village of Sardarbari Pota, had wanted to bid her brother a final farewell. Understanding the emotional importance of the request, the post commander coordinated with the BGB, and arrangements were made at the zero point for the deceased's relatives to have their last viewing," a senior BSF official said.

Mondal's relatives expressed their gratitude to security forces of both countries. Mondal's sister said: "I was distressed since it was impossible to travel to India at the moment due to stringent visa requirements. Thanks to the humanity shown by the BSF and BGB, I could see my brother for one last time."
