Kultali: Fresh tiger paw prints were discovered on Tuesday morning in Kultali's Maipith after residents of Kishorimohanpur reported its presence near the area, which was cordoned off with net fences by the forest department on Monday. Additional steel fencing has now been set up to reinforce security.
Currently, the tiger is located further east in the forest near north Jagaddal, as confirmed by the forest department. Efforts are underway to enclose a 1km area of the forest, leaving the side leading to the deeper jungle open across the Makri river.
The forest department aims to initially drive the tiger back into the deeper forest. Assistant divisional forest officer Anurag Choudhury is overseeing operations in the area. A team of 17 specialists is currently working on-site.
Residents have demanded that the forest adjacent to the locality be fenced with nets and that proper lighting be installed on roads to ensure safety.
