Kolkata: Two people lost their lives in two separate accidents in the past 48 hours. A 55-year-old bus conductor died near the Dufferin Road-Outram Road crossing next to the Fort William Gate when a biker, riding rashly, hit him around 5 pm on Monday. The conductor, reportedly, got off the bus to pick up a passenger.
The deceased, Sushanta Kumar, was a resident of East Midnapore. Kumar was later declared dead at SSKM Hospital. The biker, Md Wahid (24), was taken to SSKM Hospital too, where he is undergoing treatment.
"The conductor got off the bus at the FCI Tent bus stop to pick up a passenger to Digha when the biker came from the left and hit him. The victim was flung to the road due to the impact and sustained severe head injuries. The rider did not even see the passenger boarding the bus. He claimed the bus had suddenly stopped in front of him," said a cop.
In the other accident, a biker, Majid Molla (40), was killed when he was hit by a port-bound truck at the Upen Banerjee Road-Taratala Road crossing around 1.30 am on Tuesday. Cops are investigation how the accident occurred. — Dwaipayan Ghosh
