  • Kolkata: Worried about cyber fraudsters targeting beneficiaries of Banglar Awas Yojana, Bengal govt on Tuesday asked district magistrates to be extra cautious and make people aware of deceitful designs.

The DMs were instructed to campaign so that poor people do not share their Aadhaar numbers or OTPs. In some cases, there were complaints that people lost money from their accounts. Earlier, there were complaints that some students whose accounts were credited with funds to buy tablets lost money.

The first phase of Awas funds was recently transferred to 12 lakh beneficiaries. Most of them received Rs 60,000. DMs were also told to check if there were complaints regarding non-receipt of the first instalment or to find out the reason for any delay.
