• Bring back remains from Renkoji: Netaji kin writes to PM

  • Kolkata: Netaji's grandnephew Chandra Kumar Bose has written to the Prime Minister asking the govt of India to bring back the mortal remains of the hero or issue a notification to announce that the remains at the Renkoji temple in Japan are not that of Netaji.

In a letter to the PM written on Jan 9, Bose pointed out this is his "final request". "If the govt feels that the remains are not of Netaji, it must be specified by a notification. The nation is going to celebrate Netaji's 128th birth anniversary on Jan 23 this year. It would be a befitting tribute to the ‘liberator of India', if his mortal remains are ‘reposed on Indian soil' prior to his birth anniversary. It is a height of dishonour that his remains should lie on foreign land," said Bose, convenor of The Open Platform for Netaji.

This is the seventh instance wherein Bose has corresponded with the PM. "There has been no response to my correspondences. Netaji's only daughter, Bose Pfaff, has also dispatched numerous communications to the PM. But, these entreaties have remained unanswered," Bose said.
