The mercury hovered around 14.2°C on Monday and the Met office expects it to go up a bit by Tuesday — to around 15°C. A western disturbance is causing the mercury to rise, and a dip below the normal mark is not expected in the next four-five days. The city may also face shallow fog in the early mornings. The lowest temperature in Bengal on Monday was in Darjeeling, which recorded 1.4°C while in the plains, it was 10°C at Alipurduar. tnn
