  • 123 Kolkata/Midnapore: A CID team on Tuesday questioned seven doctors and four nurses posted at Midnapore Medical College in connection with the death of a woman — three others are in a critical condition — following the delivery of their infants at the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital earlier this month.

The team, led by DS (South) Krishnendu Mondal and comprising members from different units at Bhowani Bhawan, managed to question two senior gynaecologists who were on duty that day, along with the departmental gynaecology head, RMO, two PGTs, four nurses, and the hospital superintendent.

"The main aim is to try and gather details about the day of the incident and to probe if there was any negligence on the part of anyone. Our role is limited to this," explained a senior official in Kolkata.

The probe team has asked the hospital authorities to share the duty roster and a list of medicines in stock. Besides, other things collected by CID include the logbook, oxytocin stocks and the batch number of RL. The investigating team is likely to consult experts for technical leads in this context.
