• CID questions principal, senior docs for med college death

  • Midnapore: CID on Wednesday questioned Midnapore Medical College and Hospital principal Mausumi Nandy regarding the death of the new mom. CID officers also questioned several senior doctors who were scheduled to be on duty when the surgery and death occurred. One senior doctor questioned was also holding a bottle of Ringer's Lactate (RL).

    On Tuesday, CID detectives questioned two junior doctors, four nurses, and senior doctors at the Midnapore hospital. Additionally, MMCH superintendent Jayanta Raut was also questioned. A two-member CID team arrived at MMCH at 10 am on Wednesday and questioned the principal in her office.

    The families of deceased patient Mamoni Ruidas and the woman on ventilation Rekha Sau were summoned. Ruidas's sister-in-law Rumpa Das said, "CID took our address and number." Sau's husband Santosh said, "CID asked when my wife was admitted and how she and the baby are doing now. I informed them that doctors say my wife is a bit better but the baby is still unwell."

    A CID officer said, "The investigation is ongoing."
