  • 123 Burdwan: Thanks to quick thinking of tech-savvy relatives, three Munger minors were found on a train close to Burdwan. The three children fled their homes on Tuesday after which their relatives scanned the Google search history on the phone of the mother of one of the kids. They informed Bihar Police and RPF of their suspected route. The children were traced to Down 13024 Gaya-Howrah Express after the train left Bolpur and was about to reach Burdwan.

The children are with Childline, and at the time of the release of this copy, the parents were on their way to Howrah to bring them back home. The father of one of the boys is a CRPF man.

As relatives scanned the phone, often used by one of the kids to play online games and surf the internet, several searches for trains to Howrah and Kolkata from Gaya showed up. Checking CCTV footage of Gaya station, RPF personnel found the children boarding the Howrah-bound train.

Md Arshad Alam, a relative, said, "The three boys, one a student of class VII, and the others of class VI, left Munger for Kolkata. A missing complaint was lodged at Munger police station on Tuesday. The families went to the Munger bus stand to learn that the children were inquiring about a bus to go to Jamalpur. It was then that one of the relatives — a doctor — checked the mobile phone of a child's mother."

As RPF found the truant kids on the general compartment of the train, they contacted the families and arranged a video call. It was then that the three minors broke down. One of the boys sobbed as he apologised on the call: "Ammi, galti ho gaya."
