Bike-borne goons attack bizman on APC Rd, loot 30L

Kolkata: Two-bike borne miscreants snatched a backpack containing cash from a 42-year-old businessman, Iftikhar Ahmed Khan, residing at Canal East Road, from near a public toilet on APC Roy Road around 9am on Saturday, said joint CP (crime & traffic) Rupesh Kumar.
The businessman claimed he was also attacked with a knife when he refused to handover the backpack. He has been admitted to a local hospital.
Three people have been detained for questioning at Lalbazar in this regard. Though the businessman had claimed to be robbed of Rs 1 crore at the APC Road- Raj Narayan Street crossing, close to Khanna crossing, his statement indicated some inconsistencies by the evening.
Iftikhar had later scaled down his loss to Rs 30 lakh.
"While committing the crime, the accused persons sprayed some liquid which affected the left eye of Iftikhar. Subsequently, one of those persons intimidated Iftikhar to hand over the backpack and ultimately succeeded in snatching the bag," said Kumar.
Cops stated that CCTV footage was being analysed even as sources had been activated to hunt for the accused.
The cops claimed that a case of robbery had been registered at Narkeldanga police station in this regard. Investigation into the matter is underway.
