12 Kolkata: CPM state secretary Mohammed Salim held on Sunday that CBI had lost its credibility as an investigating agency. He said this at a press conference while responding to questions on the fate of the RG Kar rape-murder case in view of the trial court order.
He added that his party had demanded a judicial probe led by a sitting high court judge into the RG Kar incident.
Salim came down heavily on junior Union minister Sukanta Majumdar's advice to Hindus to keep arms in households. "The fundamentalists in Bangladesh are speaking the same language. The purpose is to scare the religious minorities in each country. Sukanta Majumdar is a Union minister. Centre should stop fomenting religious emotions immediately," Salim said.
CPM politburo coordinator Prakash Karat and Salim held the press meet after the CPM central committee meeting in Kolkata on Sunday ahead of the party's state conference at Dankuni.
