Kolkata: A 17-year-old boy from Hasnabad who came to Kolkata on Saturday morning to play cricket at a club, was allegedly waylaid by a group of youths. His family finally found him at a hospital. He later died at another hospital.
The family alleged Deb Ghosh was drugged and possibly poisoned by the youths who had taken his wallet and cellphone. They also claimed that cops at five police stations in Kolkata and North 24 Parganas refused to lodge a missing diary.Bigg Boss Finale NewsBigg Boss 18 Grand Finale: Top 6 contestants to fight for the trophyBigg Boss Tamil 8 grand finale : Who will be winner of the show tonight?BB18: Chum Darang gets evicted from the showThe family members demonstrated at SSKM Hospital — where he died — claiming medical and police negligence. Cops filed a case of unnatural death and sent his body for postmortem.
The boy's mother, Meena, said at 7 am on Sunday, they got a call from Minakhan Rural Hospital, where their son was admitted. "He was drowsy and told us he was taken by some men after he got off a bus at Science City. He was made to swallow a spiked dr-ink before they took his wallet and phone," said his father Ujjwal. The family said doctors asked them to shift him to SSKM, where he was put on oxygen support and drips. "Later, we learnt he died. None told us exactly what happened," Meena said. Doctors said they didn't even get time to examine him.
Alleging that cops were taking the body to the morgue without telling them, the family protested, during which the boy's grandmother was hurt. Cops denied these allegations. But an officer said they will look into claim of PSs not filing a missing diary.
