Midnapore: Junior doctors of Midnapore Medical College began a sit-in outside the principal's office at 10.30 pm on Saturday, demanding immediate withdrawal of the suspension and legal cases against seven junior doctors. The stir continued on Sunday.
Principal Mausumi Nandi said a letter was sent to the health department, CID, and district SP on the demands of the junior doctors, which were submitted to her on Saturday night. On Sunday afternoon, Nandi visited the college and found the doctors sitting outside her office. She said, "They are sitting here, and we have sent a letter to the DME as they are trainee students. They were on duty."
Among the 13 suspended individuals, there are seven junior doctors, along with the hospital superintendent and some senior doctors. The junior doctors said the protest will continue until their demands are met, and they might escalate to a larger movement if necessary.
