  • Kolkata: Probing into the daylight snatching of Rs 30 lakh from a businessman in Narkeldanga on Saturday, cops arrested two men on Sunday. The two were produced before a Sealdah court that sent them to police custody till Jan 29.

After a detailed scanning of CCTV footage of the APC Roy Road and other areas, sleuths of Kolkata Police's detective department arrested Irfan Khan from Topsia and Nasirul Khan near Narkeldanga.

On Saturday, bike-borne Irfan and Nasirul snatched a backpack containing cash from a 42-year-old businessman, Iftikhar Ahmed Khan. He is a resident of Canal East Road and the snatching occurred near a public toilet on APC Roy Road around 9 am.

The businessman, who deals in goats, claimed he was also attacked with a knife when he refused to hand over the backpack. Cops said he also claimed to be robbed of Rs 1 crore, but due to inconsistencies in his story he later scaled down his loss to Rs 30 lakh.
