  • Kolkata: A day after the mysterious death of a budding 17-year-old cricketer, Deb Ghosh, from Hasnabad at SSKM Hospital, cops said they had not spotted any foul play in the case so far. The probe is being done by a joint team of Bengal and Kolkata Police. Cops said Deb's mobile had switched off when he was on a waterways and not on a road.

"No CCTV from Minakha to Science City has thus far helped the probe. Similarly, there are no external injuries on his body that suggest that he was either assaulted or forced to swallow something. The postmortem has been indicative but we are awaiting a more detailed final report," stated an investigating officer. The fact that he was conscious when admitted at a hospital at Minakha and even walked up the SSKM stairs are also indicative, claimed sources. However, his parents had alleged that he was drugged and robbed of his cell phone and wallet after being ambushed by a group of youths. tnn
