The body of a 12-year-old girl, who had gone missing on January 9, was found from a paddy field near her home in a village in Basanti area of South Parganas district on Monday. The family of the girl alleged that she was raped and murdered.

Based on the family’s complaint, police detained three persons for questioning. While one was allowed to go, police arrested the other two.

“We are investigating all possible angles,” said a police officer. According to police, the body was found after a tractor driver informed them of seeing a hand in a paddy field.
