Howrah: The decomposed body of a 70-year-old woman was found in a drain along Shailen Manna Road near the Dumurjala stadium in Howrah.
Alerted by residents, officers from the Chatterjeehat police station recovered the body and sent it for post-mortem examination. They identified the deceased as Ganga Das, who had been missing since Jan 2. Cops are probing whether she was attacked or pushed in.
Ganga lived with her daughter and son. Her daughter, Sujata Maity, said she had left home on Jan 2 morning for work when her mother was still asleep. On return, she could not find her and later, lodged a missing complaint.
