  • Kolkata: Bengal leader of opposition Suvendu Adhikari on Friday took a family member of one of those who was administered RL saline at Midnapore Medical College and Hospital — where a new mother had died on Jan 12 — and the doctors' cell of BJP to Raj Bhavan and submitted a memorandum to governor CV Ananda Bose.

Later, BJP organised a rally from College Square to Md Ali Park.

While entering Raj Bhavan, Adhikari was stopped by police personnel. The BJP neta claimed he was intentionally being delayed. In the memorandum, Adhikari alleged state govt was trying to cover up the incident of administering "expired saline to a pregnant mother".

"State govt should come out with a list of those who were administered the saline. The owner of the company that manufactured the saline should be arrested. Police are inactive and the accused persons are being allowed to roam around freely," Adhikari said.

BJP's doctors' cell demanded enhanced compensation for the deceased.

BJP functionaries also complained to Bose about the suspension of 12 doctors and demanded withdrawal of the order. State govt had suspended 12 doctors of Midnapore Medical College and Hospital before ordering a CID probe.
