12 Kolkata: Singh Sahib Giani Sultan Singh, Anandpur Sahib jathedar and Amritsar's Golden Temple granthi, met Kolkata mayor Firhad Hakim on Thursday and hailed CM Mamata Banerjee's unwavering support to the Sikh community.
"Our meeting with Hakim was rooted in the spirit of unity and compassion. I extended an invitation to CM Mamata Banerjee and Hakim to visit Takht Sri Kesgarh Sahib, Anandpur Sahib, Punjab, as a mark of gratitude for her care and support for the Sikh community. Her commitment to inclusivity and welfare truly embodies the core values of Sikhism, which emphasise the oneness of humanity. She was instrumental in creating the railway station in Anandpur Sahib when she was railway minister," Singh said.
West Bengal Minorities Commission member Satnam Singh Ahluwalia said: "We were deeply honoured to welcome Singh Sahib Giani Sultan Singhji. During his daylong visit, Singh visited Gurdwara Behala, Gurdwara Jagat Sudhar and Gurdwara Dum Dum.
