Kolkata: The state government will showcase its Lakshmir Bhandar programme at the R-Day parade in Delhi. In Bengal, all jobless women in the age group of 25 to 60 years are eligible for this scheme. Whiel general caste women get Rs 1,000 per month, those in the SC/ST categories get Rs 1,200.
With 3 crore beneficiaries, the scheme has been a major success. CM Mamata Banerjee recently said that even after turning 60, the beneficiaries would continue to receive the monthly payment as their pension.
The tableau will use its Lok Prasar Prakalpa to highlight Lakshmir Bhandar, an official said. "The folk artistes are given a retainership fee of Rs 1,000 per month, and those over 60 get a monthly pension of Rs 1,000. Around 1.8 lakh artistes get either a retainership fee or pension from the state govt, and they would perform live," the official said.
