  • Kolkata: Two boys, aged 10 and 12, were seriously injured when they mistook two hand grenades left behind by police during a training camp at Baduria in North 24 Parganas for toys on Saturday morning, reports Sanjib Chakraborty. The boys were shifted to RG Kar Medical College and Hospital after their condition deteriorated.

Around a hundred police personnel later cleaned up the Arabelia brick kiln ground area and inspected it to ensure no other explosives were present. "A departmental inquiry has been started. We are also investigating whether the object, which reportedly exploded injuring two boys, was a grenade and left behind after training," Basirhat SP Hossain Mehedi Rehman said.
