Trinamool likely to launch association for healthcare workers

Kolkata: With an eye on health care professionals, Trinamool is likely to float a party unit, Progressive Health Association, to be helmed by minister Sashi Panja, who may address a news meet on Monday to spell out the specifics.
"I am not aware of the details. All I know is that Panja is likely to speak to the media on Monday," Trinamool spokesperson Kunal Ghosh said. He added, "After the RG Kar incident, it was felt the existing associations did little to counter the barrage of lies... They also failed to showcase the govt's good work under CM Mamata Banerjee. If anyone tries to rectify it, it will be welcome."
The party's Progressive Doctors' Association is now largely non-functional and limited to doctors. Not only state hospital doctors but nurses, other healthcare workers and private facility doctors will also be part of the new body. tnn
