  • Kolkata: Calcutta High Court on Monday directed the state to hand over a copy of the formal complaint and FIR and also submit the case diary of the alleged medical negligence at the Midnapore Medical College and Hospital where a 21-year old pregnant woman died after she was administered with saline beyond expiry date.

A senior resident doctor of the hospital, accused in the case, moved the high court seeking interim protection.

Justice Tirthankar Ghosh refused to pass any interim order without looking into the FIR and the case diary.

The state counsel was willing to submit copies of two reports on the case namely the investigation report conducted by the investigation officer of the police station and the report of the CID that was entrusted with the investigation later.

Justice Ghosh directed the state counsel to hand over a copy of the FIR to the petitioner. Justice Ghosh also directed the petitioner to submit a supplementary affidavit on Tuesday and hand over an advance copy of the same to the state counsel before the court passes an order on Tuesday.
