Kolkata: The detective wing of the Barrackpore Commissionerate arrested Akher Ali Mondal on Monday for murdering his mother-in-law, Phoolzan Bibi (82), at her Kanchrapara residence.
Police revealed that the accused murdered Bibi by slitting her throat to steal Rs 10,000, which she withdrew from the bank as her widow's pension just a day earlier. Mondal confessed to the crime during interrogation. tnn
